Pulmonary Fibrosis

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a medical term for lung scarring. Initially, with Pulmonary Fibrosis, the lungs’ air sacs become damaged. The damage eventually leads to the thickening and scarring of lung tissue. Once this happens, the lung tissue loses its ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream. Pulmonary Fibrosis can be caused by a variety of reasons, including chronic inflammatory diseases, infections, certain types of radiation, environmental agents (like asbestos), and certain kinds of medications. Lung tissue scarring is permanent and lung transplantation is the only curative option. Medical research is ongoing to develop drugs to reduce Pulmonary Fibrosis scarring.

Pulmonary Fibrosis side effects include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Chronic hacking cough
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Chest discomfort
  • Appetite loss
  • Rapid weight loss

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a side effect linked to Dostinex, a medication for the treatment of a hormone and blood disorder known as hyperprolactinemia. Other serious side effects of Dostinex include Pulmonary Hypertension and Cardiac Valvulopathy.

If you or your loved one has been injured by Dostinex, or if you would like more information on Pulmonary Fibrosis, contact one of our Pulmonary Fibrosis injury attorneys today for a free and confidential case evaluation.
