Neuropathy

Neuropathy, usually short for peripheral neuropathy, is a disease caused by damage to the body’s peripheral nerves, the motor, sensory and autonomic nerves that connect the spinal cord to muscles, skin and internal organs. Although the cause of neuropathy is unknown is about 30% of neuropathy cases, neuropathy can be caused by diabetes, autoimmune disorders, nutritional imbalances, heredity, tumors, infections, and toxins.

Neuropathy symptoms typically affect the hands and feet, and may include:

  • tingling
  • weakness
  • numbness
  • pain
