Kidney Failure
Kidney Failure is a condition in which the kidneys fail to function correctly. A healthy kidney is supposed to clean the body’s blood by removing excess fluid, minerals, and waste materials. During Kidney Failure, harmful wastes accumulate in the body, excess fluid is retained, and not enough red blood cells are produced. Kidney Failure can be very serious and requires either dialysis, regular treatments to replace the job of the kidney, or a kidney transplant. Kidney Failure can lead to severe health problems and death. There are two forms of Kidney Failure:
(1) Acute Kidney Failure is the sudden decrease of kidney function with a rapid development of symptoms that include:

- Confusion
- Shortness of breath

- Seizure
- Coma
(2) Chronic Kidney Failure is the gradual loss of kidney function usually due to high blood pressure or diabetes. Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Failure often only become noticeable after irreversible kidney damage has already taken place. Some of these symptoms include:
- High blood pressure
- Decreased urine output
- Dark colored urine
- Anemia
- Nausea and vomiting
- Yellow-brown tint to skin color (jaundice)
- Headaches and fatigue
- Bloody stool
- Fluid retention and swelling
- Sudden weight change
