Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a group of disorders in which the intestines become inflamed. The two major types of IBD are Cohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Although IBD is considered an idiopathic disease, meaning a disease with an unknown cause, scientists believe a combination of unknown factors trigger the body’s immune system to continuously produce an inflammatory reaction in the intestinal tract. A serious case of IBD may require ongoing treatment.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease symptoms include:

  • Severe stomach, chest, or bowel pain
  • Heartburn
  • Fever
  • Weight loss
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Troubled or painful swallowing
  • Diarrhea

An FDA study revealed that there is a causal link between IBD and Accutane, a prescription drug that treats severe acne.

If you or a loved one developed Inflammatory Bowel Disease from Accutane use, contact one of our Inflammatory Bowel Disease attorneys for a confidential and free case evaluation.
