Cardiac Valvulopathy

Cardiac Valvulopathy is a condition in which the heart valve becomes inflamed and stiff. Cardiac Valvulopathy can lead to heart failure and death. There is currently no cure for this condition and many patients require surgery to replace the damaged heart valves.

Cardiac Valvulopathy has been linked to Pergolide use. Pergolide is a drug that mimics the effect of dopamine in the brain, and is used to treat Parkinson’s disease (Parkinson’s disease is caused by low dopamine levels).

Cardiac Valvulopathy is also a side effect of Dostinex, a drug used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
