Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition in which a person has difficulty paying attention and focusing on tasks. ADHD occurs in adults and children and usually runs in the family. Typically, ADHD is diagnosed in children between six and twelve years old and it continues through adulthood. If ADHD is left untreated, it can cause problems at school, home, and work.

The primary ADHD symptoms include:

  • difficulty focusing attention
  • difficulty sitting still for even a short time
  • acting before thinking

Currently, scientists are unsure what causes ADHD but treatment with therapy and certain medications can control ADHD’s symptoms. ADHD medications approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. include:

  • Adderall (manufactured by Shire Pharmaceuticals)
  • Concerta (manufactured by Johnson & Johnson)
  • Ritalin (manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals)

Unfortunately, these ADHD medications have been linked to severe and even fatal side effects. If you or loved one has been injured by an ADHD medication or if you would like more information about ADHD, contact one of our ADHD medication attorneys today for a free case evaluation.
