Anemia

Anemia occurs when a person has too few red blood cells or their red blood cells do not contain enough hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein that circulates oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Anemia patients’ blood cannot circulate enough oxygen, depriving various body parts from needed oxygen. Anemia is most common in patients with cancer or kidney failure because these conditions reduce the body’s ability to produce red blood cells.

Anemia’s most common symptom is fatigue. Other Anemia symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Pale skin
  • Coldness in hands and feet
  • Chest pain

Although there is no cure for Anemia, several drugs reduce and control Anemia’s symptoms, including:

Unfortunately, these Anemia treating drugs have been linked to severe side effects, including heart attacks and strokes. If you would like more information about Anemia or its treatment medications, or have been injured by an Anemia treating drug, including Procrit, Aranesp, and Epogen, please contact one of our experienced personal injury attorneys today for a free case evaluation.
