Were you affected by the Stryker hip recall of July 2012? Consider joining other patients who received a defective Stryker Rejuvenate or ABG II hip implant and suffered side effects by filing a Stryker recall lawsuit. You may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more. The first Stryker hip recall lawsuit, which was filed on August 8, 2012, alleged that the company designed, manufactured and marketed a defective device without warning patients about its possible risks and dangers.

Now, seven additional plaintiffs who suffered Stryker hip recall injuries have filed lawsuits. These plaintiffs all received a Stryker Rejuvenate modular-neck hip stem and had to undergo expensive and difficult revision surgery to remove the defective devices, in as little as eight months after implantation. Revision surgery of the recalled Stryker hip implants is especially difficult because of damage to the soft tissue surrounding the original hip implant and the challenge of removing the femur bone. All seven plaintiffs suffered from high levels of toxic metal ions in the bloodstream. The Stryker neck stems are composed in part of chromium and cobalt with a metal-on-metal junction that can lead to metallosis in the surrounding bloodstream.

These are the same side effects that led Stryker Orthopedics to issue the Stryker hip recall in the first place. According to the company, the Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II hip implants were linked to an increased risk of fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction, which may lead to pain, swelling, and other adverse reactions. Approximately 20,000 devices were sold in the United States prior to the July recall.

These Stryker hip recall lawsuits are just the beginning. We expect that many more individuals affected by the recall will want the company to be held accountable for their suffering.
