Hydroxycut May Cause Liver Damage
Hydroxycut is a popular dietary supplement used for weight-loss and muscle-enhancement manufactured by Canadian corporation Iovate Health Sciences, Inc. In May 2009, after at least 23 users experienced liver damage after taking Hydroxycut, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) issued a Hydroxycut recall and encouraged dieters to immediately discontinue use. In April 2009, the World Journal of Gastroenterology had reported that hydroxycitric acid, an ingredient in Hydroxycut, may cause liver damage. In most cases, discontinuation of the product repaired all liver damage, but one 19-year-old consumer died from liver injuries, and another consumer had such severe liver damage that a transplant was required. The Hydroxycut Lawyers at Bernstein Liebhard LLP are investigating possible Hydroxycut liver damage.
