Epogen lawsuits allege that Amgen engaged in illegal marketing that placed Epogen users at risk. Epogen lawsuits note that Congressmen John Dingell and Bart Stupak (both Michigan Democrats) sent letters to Amgen stating that their Epogen marketing campaign convinced doctors to prescribe Epogen at unsafe doses. Lawsuits also note that in May 2007, the New York Times reported that about 50% of kidney disease patients received Epogen doses above the FDA approved levels.
