Avandia Side Effects

In fact, one particular study on Avandia side effects, which was published in 2007, found that Avandia approximately doubled the risk of heart failure and increased the risk of heart attack by more than 40 percent.

In rare cases, Avandia may also cause liver problems, which can be fatal. Avandia patients who experience side effects associated with liver complications should stop using Avandia and seek medical attention immediately. These side effects include:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • lethargic feelings of no energy
  • a loss of appetite
  • dark urine

Additionally, patients should stop using Avandia and call a doctor at once if they experience any of these serious side effects:

  • feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion
  • swelling or rapid weight gain
  • chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, sweating, general ill feeling
  • nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stool, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
  • blurred vision
  • increased thirst or hunger, urinating more than usual
  • pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, weakness
