Tania TaverasTania T. Taveras received her bachelor’s degree in 1999 from Hunter College of the City University of New York (B.A., Political Science, with a minor in Economics), graduatingcum laude, and received her J.D. in 2004 from Fordham University School of Law, where she was a member of the Fordham Environmental Law Journal and served as a legal intern in the Securities Arbitration Clinic.

Ms. Taveras is currently working on several securities fraud class actions against numerous issuers of securities for allegedly misleading investors, including In re Fannie Mae Securities Litigation, No. 04-CV-1639 (D.D.C.).  Ms. Taveras is also active in the Firm’s antitrust and consumer class action practice; she is currently working on In re Processed Egg Products Antitrust Litigation, No. 08-MD-2002 (E.D. Pa.).  Ms. Taveras was a member of the trial team in the consumer fraud action, Artie’s Auto Body Inc. v. Hartford Fire Insurance Co., No. 08-CV-03-019161415 (Conn. Super. Ct.), in which the Firm recently won a $14.7 million jury verdict.  Prior to working on these cases, Ms. Taveras was actively involved in In re Royal Dutch/Shell Transport Securities Litigation, No. 04-374 (JAP) (D.N.J.) (U.S. settlement with a minimum cash value of $138.3 million and a contingent value of more than $180 million, in addition to a $350 million European settlement that the Firm was substantially responsible for obtaining).  In addition, Ms. Taveras is a volunteer in the Kings County District Attorney’s Pro Bono Appeals Program.

Ms. Taveras is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey.  She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
