Mark T. Millkey
Mark T. Millkey received his bachelor's degree in 1981 from Yale University (B.A., English), his masters in 1983 from the University of Virginia (M.A., English), and his J.D. in 1987 from the University of Virginia.
Mr. Millkey is currently working on several securities fraud class actions against numerous issuers of securities for allegedly misleading investors, including In re Royal Dutch/Shell Transport Securities Litigation (D.N.J.), which recently settled for a minimum cash benefit to the class of $130 million, and a contingent value of more than $180 million.
Before joining Bernstein Liebhard LLP, Mr. Millkey was associated with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta from 1987 through 1988, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP from 1988 through 1994. At both firms he represented defendant corporations in complex commercial litigations. In 1995, Mr. Millkey worked for an Atlanta firm on a double derivative action involving a utility regarding overcharges for the provision of electricity. From 1996 through early 2003, Mr. Millkey worked at a prominent Manhattan plaintiffs' class action firm, where his title was Special Counsel and he worked principally on consumer-fraud class actions against various life insurance companies. Among other matters, Mr. Millkey worked extensively on a major litigation against MetLife that resulted in a benefit to the class of approximately $1.7 billion. He has significant appellate experience in both the state courts of New York and the federal system, and he has worked extensively in the area of derivative litigation.
Mr. Millkey is a member of the Bars of the States of New York and Georgia and the district courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the Northern District of Georgia.
