The National Law Journal Plaintiffs’ Hot List is based on the NLJ’s survey of the litigation scene over the 12 months leading up to the announcement of the list. The NLJ asks its readers (primarily attorneys) to nominate plaintiffs’ firms with at least one significant win within the period, plus an impressive record of victories over the preceding five years, which means “prevailing in a bench or jury trial worth lots of money or testing a legal theory with the potential to shape future litigation.” Based on this criteria, the NLJ has named BL to its annual Hot List for the past nine years. In 2012, Bernstein Liebhard LLP was named for the fifth consecutive year to The Legal 500,, a guide which “provides the most comprehensive worldwide coverage currently available on legal services providers, in over 100 countries.” The publication ranked the firm as one of the top seven plaintiffs’ firms that litigate securities class actions and mass torts. According to its editors, “firms recommended in these tables have a proven track record of success in complex litigation.” The editors further noted that “[t]he greatest weight is accorded to firms that are regularly selected to take lead counsel roles in litigation, or which serve on plaintiffs’ steering committees or act as liaison counsel.” Additionally, The Legal 500 recognized several of the firm’s partners as leaders in their fields: “Practice head Stanley Bernstein is recommended for his ‘excellent and persuasive performance in court, mediation and negotiations’, as is Jeffrey Haber for his ‘promptness in furnishing drafts’ and receptiveness to client concerns.” The publication also recommended partners U. In 2006 and 2007, Stanley Bernstein was named by Lawdragon as among the top lawyers in the country for his extraordinary professional achievements.
